Helen and the surrounding area offer so many adventures. It’s really hard to see everything in one trip. Here are some of our favorites, but we know you will find many others as well. Many of the Alpine Volks Fairs events can be found at these spots too!
Anna Ruby Falls – A beautiful scenic site to explore. Minutes from Helen. A simple trail hike and you are able to take in some of the most beautiful scenery in the area. A must see!
Unicoi State Park – Whether you drive or walk through this beautiful Georgia State Park, there is so much to see and do. There are also many lodging options in the park. Camping, hotel lodging, cabins, and RV camping.
Chattahoochee River – The river begins at Anna Ruby and winds its way through Helen. There is tubing, camping, fishing, hiking trails all along the crystal clear waters. Bring your bathing suit!
Dahlonega – Super nice college town about 30 minute drive.
Lake Burton – A short scenic drive from Helen. Beautiful place to explore, eat at many great restaurants, rent a boat and explore the 62-mile reservoir. Check out Chop House at Laprades for Lunch or Dinner.
Zip Lines – There are numerous places to zip line around Helen. At Unicoi, Cool River Adventures, Nacoochee Adventures, and Sunburst to name a few!
Scenic Highway Drives – There are a ton of epic spots to drive and sightsee around Helen and North Georgia. This is something we always manage to find a new adventure every time we are in the area! Get out and drive!
Brasstown Bald – The highest point in GA, with breathtaking views. Big parking area, cool observation deck. 20-mile awesome drive from Helen.
Tallulah Falls Gorge State Park – A short drive from Helen and then a healthy trail to explore before getting to a breathtaking view.
